Recover access to Ubuntu after Install Windows 8 , 7

Using the Ubuntu CD or mount it in USBSTICK

The graphical way

  • Insert your Ubuntu CD, reboot your computer and set it to boot from CD in the BIOS and boot into a live session. You can also use a LiveUSB if you have created one in the past.
  • Install and run Boot-Repair

    install Boot-Repair in Ubuntu

    - boot your computer on a Ubuntu live-CD or live-USB.
    - choose "Try Ubuntu"
    - connect internet
    - open a new Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T), then type:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt-get update
    - Press Enter.
    - Then type:
    sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair
    - Press Enter

  • Click "Recommended Repair".
  • Now reboot your system. The usual GRUB boot menu should appear. If it does not, hold Left Shift while booting. You will be able to choose between Ubuntu and Windows.

Can recover access to Windows (XP, Vista, Seven,Eight).
Can recover access to Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint...
Can recover access to any OS (Windows, MacOS, Linux..) if your PC contains Debian, Ubuntu or derivative.
Can repair MBR-locked OEM computer boot if the original bootsector has been saved by Clean-Ubiquity
Can repair the boot when you have the "GRUB Recovery" error message
